McCall Digest is excited to announce a writing contest for area high school students! Valley and Adams County and Riggins/Salmon River School District students, grades 9-12 are eligible, whether public, private or home-schooled.

Storytelling – in all its forms – is the stuff of life, across all cultures. As a purveyor of written-word stories, McCall Digest wants to encourage the next generation of writers with this contest.

Thanks to a generous grant from the Payette Lakes Progressive Club, winning students will be rewarded with cash prizes in addition to seeing their work published in McCall Digest.

With poetry, fiction/short story and creative nonfiction categories, there’s room for a wide variety of stories that address this inaugural year’s theme, THE OBSTACLE IS THE PATH.

Encourage the students you know to submit their stories! Submissions deadline is December 21st. Rules and submission details here.

(Thanks to Sue Schaffer for poster design, and artist Debi Payne for the use of her artwork.)
