‘Tis the season for dancing, skiing and movies about skiing, photos with Santa, shopping local for holiday gifts and supporting local nonprofits. Here are some of the events coming up this December in and around McCall:

McCall Music Society is hosting two Christmas Concerts, 3:00 pm and 7:30 pm on December 1st at Community Congregational Church. The concerts feature music by the McCall Concert Singers and the McCall Chamber Orchestra and McCall Youth Orchestra.

McCall Downtown Tree Lighting at Art Roberts Park in downtown McCall, 5:30-6:30 pm on December 7th.

 

The City of New Meadows is hosting a Christmas Open House on December 7th from 4:00 – 6:00 pm. Meet local government officials and neighbors, enjoy some finger food and enter to win a door prize.

 

Warren Miller’s “Face of Winter” film showing two nights, December 7 and 8, at 6:30 pm at Shore Lodge. Get in the mood for skiing!

 

Santa Paws, benefiting MCPAWS, at Barn Owl Books from 11:00am – 3:oo pm on December 8th. Bring your pet for a photo with Santa!

The Snow Ball, a formal event benefiting Payette Lakes Ski Club, December 8th from 5:00 – 10:00 pm at North Fork Lodge. Dinner, drinks, dancing and live and silent auctions.

 

 

Old Timey Square Dance hosted by McCall Folklore Society on December 14th, 7:30 pm at the Forester Club.

 

 

The Backcountry Film Festival runs two nights, December 14 and 15, 6:00 pm at Alpine Playhouse, benefiting McCall Winter Sports Club. Celebrate the human-powered backcountry snow sports experience.

 

Bring your camera and get Pictures with Santa and his Sleigh at the Activity Barn on December 15th from noon to 2:00 pm.

 

Swing by the inaugural Winter Market of local arts and crafts hosted by Mountain Java on December 21st from 5:00 – 8:00 pm, for some last-minute holiday gifts. Nearby stores – Gravity Sports, Razzle Dazzle, and Mountain Monkey Business – will be open late, and there will be music and drinks.

 

Holiday Rail Jam at Little Ski Hill December 22nd from 3:00 – 7:00 pm. Open to skiers and boarders of all ages and abilities.

 

Catch the fireworks at the Light Up the Night festival at Brundage on December 29th from 4:30 – 8:00 pm. Enjoy a Torchlight Parade, slope-side fireworks show, Aglow on the Snow kids walking parade, and food & festivities for all ages.
